Export Readiness Diagnostic

This assesses your ability to successfully enter export markets. Some key considerations include:

  • Marketing (e.g. Quality of marketing materials)
  • Operations (e.g potential to expand production capacity)
  • Human Resources (e.g. commitment to exporting)
  • Financial (e.g. profitability of domestic operations)

Potential impediments to export are identified and recommendations are made to address them. Assistance with the implementation of these recommendations is also available. The aim is to put your company in the best possible position to tackle overseas opportunities.

Overseas Market Research

DJM utilises many sources of information to identify and evaluate the best export opportunities for your company and its products. Information used includes:

  • Market research reports covering a variety of industries in a variety of countries
  • Newspaper and magazine articles from around the world
  • Trade statistics covering Europe, North America, South America and Asia
  • Overseas tender opportunities
  • Australian export information by detailed product category and destination country
  • Patent statistics to determine those countries most actively patenting in your product area

Export Market Planning

Once the opportunities have been identified (i.e. countries and products) it is then a matter of building a plan to successfully enter the identified market. Some factors to consider include:

  • Entry strategy (e.g. direct, agent or distributor)
  • Product modification and certification needs
  • Promotional methods
  • Pricing (e.g. margins, duties, freight costs)
  • Financial issues (e.g. projections, finance)
  • Operational issues (e.g. capacity, modifications)

NB. A 50% subsidy may be available from AusIndustry for this service.
